How to implement a new mobility service (B2B) into an existing product

The Situation

In 2021 one of ÖBB’s internal innovation teams needed support to find out how to create a new mobility offer (B2B) and implement it into an existing product infrastructure. All the work was done during Covid.

The objective was to find out …

1. the most important needs of the potential customers?

2. how to set up and run a lean version of the service?

3. how to make it work without an explosion of the amount of work and budget?

To find answers to the questions above we did:

→ User Research (qualitative user interviews, visited the pilot customer onsite)

A comprehensive Service Blueprint

A Design Sprint with the internal innovation team and other stakeholders

Low fidelity wireframes

A product Roadmap

Insights from our qualitative user interview session.

We used a printed map to understand where the mobility services were actually used by the emplyeees

Fast forward 2 years later to 2023. The new mobility service (B2B) is successfully launched and integrated.

Note: I was not involved in the design and development work. My role here was done after providing a solution for the initial objective. The execution of the design and development was done internally by the great Wegfinder Team.

Here you can see how the ÖBB announced the launch of this service on LinkedIn.

1. This is a screenshot of the real Wegfinder App. The entry point to this additional service is placed in the users profile section.

2. If the company of a user is offering this benefit to their employees, the user can link his/her company account and enjoy the mobility budget.
